Karnataka Festivals
Karnataka's calendar follows the Amanta (South Indian) lunar system. Ugadi (March-April) is the Kannada New Year. The state's crown jewel is Mysuru Dasara — the 10-day royal Navaratri celebration culminating in the grand Jamboo Savari elephant procession. Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with elaborate home installations.
