🕉️ Savitri + Yamraj + Vat (Banyan tree)

Krishna Amavasya OR Purnima of Jyeshtha (May-June)

Vat Savitri Vrat

Vat Savitri is observed by married women in memory of Savitri — the legendary wife who won her husband Satyavan back from Yamraj through her intense devotion. The banyan tree (vat) is central because Savitri sat under one during her three-day tapas. Married women observe the vrat by fasting, worshipping the banyan tree, tying 108 sacred threads around its trunk, and praying for their husband's long life.
